Phil Gingrey
John Phillip "Phil" Gingrey, (born July 10, 1942) was the U.S. Representative for from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party (GOP). The district is located in the northwestern suburbs of Atlanta.
On March 27, 2013, Gingrey announced he would be a candidate in the 2014 race for U.S. Senate for his state,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/21806542/rep-phil-gingrey-announces-run-for-senate )〕 but he lost in the May 20, 2014 Republican primary, placing fourth.
==Early life, education, and early political career==
Gingrey was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Aquinas High School.〔 He received a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Georgia Tech in 1965, and then attended Medical College of Georgia.〔http://gingrey.house.gov/Biography/〕 He then worked as an obstetrician. While at Georgia Tech, Gingrey was a driver of the Ramblin' Wreck mascot car.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Ramblin' Reck History: A Story )〕 He also became a member of the Gamma Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.nicindy.org/political-leaders.html )〕
Gringrey entered politics when he ran for the Marietta School Board, a body of which he was three times named chairman. He served two terms as a member of the Georgia State Senate from 1999 to 2003.
